    Dear Starr Readers:

On behalf of General Ricardo Sanchez Elementary, I would like to thank you for your most generous donation. It meant a lot to us to know that you took time out of your schedule to personally deliver books to our district. Your commitment to help promote and support early childhood literacy in our community is sincerely appreciated. With the help of donations from supporters such as you, we will continue to see improvements in early childhood literacy.

Our students were really excited with all the new arrivals. However, what really caught their attention was the display of the Harry Potter Boxed Set. The decoratively packaged trunk-like cardboard box which included all of the seven hardcover editions, were a big hit:

  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
  • According to the most recent U.S. Department of Education data, the average reading scores for minority children are 25% lower than those of White and Asian children. This is a tremendously significant gap. It's the thoughtfulness of friends such as you that will help close this gap.

Thanks again for your generous help in promoting and supporting early childhood literacy.

    Best wishes,

    Mrs. Armandina B. Villarreal
